The AlphaMax Academy is an approved Global Assessment Certificate (GAC) Teaching Center, the official ACT Test Center for Suriname, plus the Center for Caribbean CXC examinations (CPEA, CSEC and CAPE) in Suriname

CPEA Examination

On completion of primary school in Grade 6, Academy scholars write the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) before entering Secondary School. The CPEA is a Caribbean regional international external evaluation of the literacies, competencies and numeracy skills of primary students before entering the secondary level.

CSEC Examination

The Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) is a globally recognized and regional exam offered by the Barbados-based Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC). CSEC candidates are examined for certification at the General and Technical Proficiencies. The General and Technical Proficiencies provide students with the foundation for further studies at the tertiary-level and entry to the workplace. The Council now offers a total of 33 subjects, that is, 28 subjects at General Proficiency and 5 at Technical Proficiency. Students who perform exceptionally well and fit the criteria are eligible for one of the many CSEC Regional Awards given by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).

Global Assessment Certificate (GAC) Program

The GAC is a university preparation program that provides students with the academic knowledge, independent learning skills, English language skills and confidence to enter and successfully complete a bachelor’s degree at university.
If you want to study overseas, successful completion of the GAC gives entry into one of many GAC Pathway Universities in Australia, Canada, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Thailand, the Caribbean, the U.K., the U.S.A., and Vietnam.

GAC GLOBAL RECOGNITION

In addition to GAC courses, all students in this program have the opportunity to prepare for and take the ACT® test, a multiple-choice college entry test that covers English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. An optional writing test is available. This test is recognized internationally by universities, in the USA and elsewhere.

Universities in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Caribbean have accepted AlphaMax Academy graduates with GAC credentials and they have successfully completed their studies in three years.

CREDITS & SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships and bursaries are offered by a number of GAC Pathway Universities. These scholarships reward you for your academic excellence before and during your university studies.

CAPE: The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination

The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) is another program offered by The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) designed to provide certification of the academic, vocational and technical achievement of students in the Caribbean who, having completed secondary education, wish to further their studies. The examinations address the skills and knowledge acquired by students under a flexible and articulated system where subjects are organized in one-Unit or two-Unit courses with each Unit containing three Modules. Subjects examined under CAPE may be studied concurrently or singly.

The Caribbean Examinations Council offers three types of certification. The first is the award of a certificate showing each CAPE Unit completed. The second is the CAPE diploma, awarded to candidates who have satisfactorily completed at least six Units, including Caribbean Studies. The third is the CAPE Associate Degree, awarded for the satisfactory completion of a prescribed cluster of seven CAPE Units including Caribbean Studies and Communication Studies. For the CAPE diploma and the CAPE Associate’s Degree, candidates must complete the cluster of required Units within a maximum period of five years.

The CXC Associate’s Degree helps students fine-tune their knowledge, skills, and attitude required for the work place or for continuing tertiary education. Associates’ Degrees are available in various streams including Arts & Humanities, Business & Human Development Studies, Mathematics & Science, and Technical Studies & Creative Arts.
